<image:title>Extras - Lunch</image:title>
<image:caption>Children that stay at Little Acorns for lunch need to bring a packed lunch. We ask that this contains only healthy options. Staff sit with the children to eat, and will always model good practice with healthy food, including fruit and vegetables. Children are offered water or milk to drink at snack time, water is available all day, and we ask that if you send a drinks bottle, with your child’s packed lunch, that it contains water only. No squash or juice as that can be harmful to teeth if it is drunk from a bottle. There is no need to send a drinks bottle as fresh water and cups are always available. We hope the child’s packed lunch will contain, some fruit, and vegetables, some carbohydrate, maybe in the form of bread, crackers or pasta, and some protein, meat, cheese, egg or a vegetarian option. We will inform you if any child at the setting has an allergy and certain foods need to be avoided. Please keep treats like biscuits to a minimum, only one treat per meal</image:caption>

<image:title>Extras - Swimming.</image:title>
<image:caption>In the summer term, Little Acorns is lucky enough to have access to the Stickland’s school swimming pool. The pool is a regular depth of about 90cm, and is heated. Staff are trained in reach and rescue, which is the requirement for a pool of this depth. We have lots of fun in the pool, and the children learn about water confidence. They learn to get themselves changed independently, and start to feel comfortable at the school, where many of them will go after Little Acorns in September after their 4th Birthday. We have a path from our garden directly to the school. We usually contribute £1 per child per session to the school for the use of the pool. You can join the Stickland’s splash lottery here. This raises funds to keep the school pool open for all to enjoy.</image:caption>

<image:title>Extras - Stickland’s School & Forest School.</image:title>
<image:caption>Little Acorns has a close relationship with Stickland’s school. The children have opportunities to use, by arrangement, the school playground, the pool in the Summer months and the forest school area with the reception class throughout the year. Mrs Will the reception teacher works closely with the Little Acorns staff to ensure a smooth transition for any children moving on to Stickland’s school. The school has a wonderful Forest school area, and Little Acorns join in regularly with Forest school sessions at school with the reception class.</image:caption>

Additional costs Little Acorns does not charge for consumables. We do have the option to opt into a charitable contribution of £1.02 an hour on funded hours. List is provided on request what this charitable contribution provides above standard EYFS activities and experiences. <image:caption>I am a Level 2 Assistant at Little Acorns, and have been with the setting for nearly 20 years. I really enjoy teaching the children some basic cookery and love being creative. I am passionate that children are getting the most out of learning whilst having fun and making new friends. We are very lucky to have a large garden to play in and having the opportunity to grow our own fruit and vegetables with the children, I do like getting back to nature and maybe a little muddy too. I helped to run the after school club known as Funkey Monkeys for a few years when my own children attended but they are now all grown up and I await my grandchildren.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am the settings Manager, SENCO, DSL and Health and Safety Officer. I fell in love with Little Acorns as soon as we visited in 2013, it was a vast change from the mainstream preschool of 32 children per session that we left behind in Worcestershire. I am a mother of three beautiful boys who all attended and loved Little Acorns, and who still talk fondly of their memories at the setting. I joined the committee as a member to offer help and be a part of my children's learning. I loved going into the setting and interacting with the staff and children, and really wanted to be a part of it. After being secretary for the committee for a year, followed by becoming a volunteer, gaining a Level 2 Early Years qualification. In 2018, I become a staff member, and achieved my Level 3 qualification in early years and childcare to extend my knowledge for working with pre-schoolers. IN 2023 I qualified as a Level 3 SENCO and took over the role of the setting Manager. My passion is to ensure every child leaves us confident, ready to start to school. We have an excellent relationship with Sticklands school which involves a fantastic transition programme.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am the settings Deputy, Deputy DSL and Deputy SENCO. My qualification is a BA Hons in Early Years and Education and have many years experience working in early years. I have created many unique and specialised props, to support the stories, using my love of crochet. These are available for parents to borrow, and help to engage their child in reading and storytelling. I also like to do Storycises with the children, these are actions and exercises that fit in with a story, and are great for the children’s core strength and listening skills. It is a fun activity that is carried on at Sticklands school, where most of the children transition to when they leave us. I have completed a Level 2 qualification in Autism Spectrum Disorder. I was diagnosed with a hearing impairment 14 years ago, and at that point took the decision to learn sign language. I have started teaching the children new signs to expand their skill set and understanding.</image:caption>
